Responsibilities
DATA MANAGEMENT CONSULTATION: Designs a data management system that integrates quality management data, resulting in problem identification and trending of performance.
Sets up systems to maintain organization of workflow.
Acts as a technical resource to co-workers in analyzing and interpreting data.
Evaluates data management software currently available within Legacy Health System (LHS); recommends purchase of new software or programming of current software as needed.
Maintains current knowledge of computer technology and application.
Shares information with co-workers, and instructs as needed.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of current developments and trends in data processing and health care systems.
Develops existing applications to realize full potential, including introduction of upgraded applications, implementation of system modules and modification of existing work processes.
Develops, maintains, supports and/or documents specific applications to meet the needs of the department.
DATA REPORTING AND PRESENTATION: Performance data is collected, analyzed, and displayed to assist in obtaining system-wide and departmental goals and objectives, including Quality Improvement, Process Improvement, Customer Satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
Designs and maintains data collection, reporting and analysis systems.
Develops, maintains and produces statistical and analytical reports and/or graphics for the purpose of data interpretation.
Produces and distributes regularly scheduled reports to various levels in the organization.
Conducts specialized queries and formulates spreadsheets to support and facilitate data analysis.
Collaborates with co-workers and management in design and preparation of data presentations.
May review medical records to identify abnormalities and detect occurrences that require review and/or trending.
Provides accurate information to co-workers and other customers when requested, in order to complete data analysis process.
QUALITY MONITORING: Quality indicators are developed and monitored which reflect the needs of internal and external customers.
Acts as technical resource to management and staff regarding development and monitoring of quality indicators.
Facilitates design of quality indicators recommended by management and staff.
Performs analysis and makes recommendations regarding quality indicator reports for the department.
CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI):Customers receive the technical assistance necessary to manage decision-making with accurate and meaningful data.
Provides data to customers as requested to facilitate quality improvement decision-making.
SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION: Ensures accuracy and integrity of departmental database.
Assists with the development of database documentation and data standards, and maintains those standards, including quality checks and presentation standards per departmental standard.
Maintains specific data in departmental software applications; coordinates maintenance of other data with co-workers.
Identifies deficiencies and problems with existing data and develops and coordinates plans to resolve.
Completes system conversion and download process(es) monthly.
Provides system upkeep to facilitate ease of information retrieval.
Serves as a liaison with Information Resources for routine back up, system maintenance, upgrades and other routine system maintenance and reporting.
Accesses appropriate databases throughout Legacy Health System when approved by data administrator.
Acts as data administrator for assigned systems.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in data management, computer science, management engineering or related field or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
Experienced user of Access, Excel, statistical software packages, query reporting, report specification development, and survey development strongly preferred.
Experience with continuous quality improvement, outcomes management, customer satisfaction, and regulatory standards for information management strongly preferred.
Prefer experience in System Administration: installation, maintenance, upgrades, and security.
Prefer knowledge of available data systems within Legacy Health System, particularly those specific to assigned department.
Clinical experience in relevant area may be preferred.
