The Ultrasound Registered Technical Advisor is an experienced ultrasound technologist who serves as a clinical and technical leader for the modality, supporting high standards of imaging quality, safety, and consistency across the organization.
You would ensure standardized exam protocols, regulatory and accreditation compliance, quality control, staff and student education, and effective collaboration with radiologists and imaging leadership to deliver accurate, patient-centered ultrasound services.

This role reports to the Imaging Manager.

  • Advanced ultrasound imaging skills with strong competency in anatomy, pathology recognition, and exam protocols
  • Clinical judgment and decision-making in complex or high-acuity patient situations
  • Quality assurance, safety compliance, and accreditation support within an imaging department

Essential Job Duties:

  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
  • Verify patient identification, clinical history, and exam appropriateness prior to procedures
  • Accurately label, document, and transmit images to PACS for timely radiologist interpretation
  • Maintain efficient workflow to support patient throughput and departmental productivity
  • Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and quality control of ultrasound equipment
  • Assist radiologists with special procedures and adapt exams based on clinical findings
  • Support training, onboarding, and ongoing education of staff and students
  • Qualifications:

    Graduation from an accredited imaging technology or ultrasound program
  • Demonstrated competency in ultrasound imaging, anatomy, and pathology recognition
  • Minimum of two years of radiology or ultrasound technologist experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, safety standards, and imaging protocols
  • Flexibility to meet departmental scheduling needs, including occasional on-call coverage

Licenses / Certifications:

  • Current registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Ultrasound
  • Eligible for and maintaining required state licensure, as applicable
  • Compliance with continuing education requirements to maintain all certifications
