About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician will support daily operations at a single composting facility. The technician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing a variety of equipment and systems used in compost production, including aeration systems, storm drains, and facility infrastructure. The technician will be responsible for landscaping of the facility and must be able to communicate any needed repairs to the site manager.

Shift: Varies, Monday - Sunday 7AM - 5PM (Job Type: Full-Time) | Location: Salina, CA| Pay Rate: $25.00

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on composting equipment systems, as well as minor facility repairs and landscaping
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records in accordance with company policy
  • Assist with facility upgrades, installations, and equipment improvements
  • Support compliance with environmental regulations and safety protocols
  • Ensure tools and spare parts inventory are stocked and organized
  • Communicate effectively with operations staff to schedule and prioritize repairs and projects
  • Report any safety concerns/hazards or defects to leadership on site when identified
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Technical or trade school certification a plus
  • Two (2) or more years of experience required, preferably in an industrial, agricultural or waste management setting
  • Basic awareness of federal, state, and local job site health and safety rules, regulations, and best practices
  • OSHA 10 Preferred

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematic diagrams
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred
  • Must be safety oriented and familiar with OSHA standards
  • Communicate effectively with team members and external customers
  • Ability to be a team-player for overall company success

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE. he physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary to utilize tools and other equipment necessary to perform job duties
  • Auditory and visual acuity to monitor surroundings, equipment sounds, and safety signals (with or without corrective devices).
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, and kneeling required in outdoor and uneven terrain environments.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 35 pounds regularly, and up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Tolerance to work in outdoor environments with strong odors, dust, humidity, and varying weather conditions (hot, cold, wet).
