Equipment Operator - 3rd Shift at MetalX LLC – Auburn, Indiana

Position Overview

The Equipment Operator safely and efficiently moves freight, stock or other materials throughout the yard to designated areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations by forklift, skid steer or loader in a safe and timely manner
2. Complete and maintain necessary paperwork pertinent to the assigned department
3. Maintain a clean and organized working environment
4. Perform daily preventative maintenance on mobile equipment, as required
5. Follow dress code and ensure proper PPE is worn at all times
6. Make decisions, solve problems, and handle high stress situations calmly and safely

Job Requirements/Skills

1. Knowledge of Non-Ferrous and Ferrous metals
2. Forklift experience required
3. Computer experience preferred
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
5. Problem solving skills

Education/Experience

1. High school diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements

1. Walk, sit, stand, stoop for long periods of time
2. Ability to climb in/on mobile equipment
3. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
4. Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
