Description: The Service Technician Apprentice is foundational in the field of technical services and support. This position serves as an entry-level gateway for individuals aspiring to build a career in technical maintenance, repair, and customer service. The apprentice works under the guidance of experienced technicians, gaining hands-on experience and acquiring the essential skills needed to excel in the industry.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with seasoned technicians to understand the intricacies of technical service and repair. This includes shadowing senior technicians during service calls, observing diagnostic procedures, and performing basic tasks as directed.
  • Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks on various equipment and systems. This encompasses checking, cleaning, and servicing components to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
  • Assist in identifying problems with equipment or systems while utilizing diagnostic tools and following systematic approaches to pinpoint issues.
  • Interact with customers during service calls to explain the nature of the problem, the steps being taken to fix it, and providing general maintenance advice.
  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and maintenance performed. This includes filling out service reports, logging parts used, and updating service histories.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. This involves wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety procedures.
  • Learn to properly use and maintain the tools and equipment necessary for technical services. This includes regular checks and ensuring tools are in good working condition.
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • A strong interest and basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Previous experience with tools and technical equipment is advantageous.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and ensure all tasks are completed accurately.
  • Analytical mindset to identify and troubleshoot problems effectively. Apprentices should be able to think critically and apply logical approaches to resolving technical issues.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and document service activities clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Products to provide accurate information and recordkeeping for clients.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical or vocational training in relevant fields (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and science
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program (optional but advantageous)
  • Certifications in specific technical areas (e.g., CARO, CIRO, HVAC, automotive repair) preferred


Travel Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Anticipated 100% travel to customer clients in the region, including occasional travel out of state.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to attend meetings, trainings, and events.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to and exceeding 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
  • Bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements
  • Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas
  • Adequate vision to perform all required tasks
  • Work on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops
  • Comfortable with heights and able to climb and descend safely
  • Strong sense of balance and spatial awareness
  • Participate in respiratory fit testing and use as required
