The Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Hardware Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and improvement of cutting-edge bioinstrumentation and microelectrode array (MEA) systems. You will work closely with biologists, software engineers, and mechanical engineers to create reliable, high-performance tools that empower scientists around the world.
Requirements:Job Duties
- Design, prototype, and test analog and digital circuitry for biosensing and cell-culture monitoring systems.
- Develop and maintain embedded firmware for real-time data acquisition and instrument control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and translate biological research needs into engineering solutions.
- Support product lifecycle from concept through manufacturing, including validation, documentation, and compliance testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and firmware issues in existing products.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in PCB design, low-noise signal acquisition, and embedded systems.
Technical Skills
Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of professional experience in mixed-signal PCB design
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium Designer preferred)
- Experience with board-level debug using test and measurement instrumentation (multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
- Familiarity with mixed-signal circuit design, low-noise analog design, signal and power integrity (SI/PI), and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
- Familiarity with high-speed signaling protocols such as USB, Ethernet, or LVDS
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
Technical Skills
Preferred
- Experience with regulatory compliance for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use (IEC 61010) or for medical use (IEC 60601)
- Knowledge of Python for data analysis and test automation
- Knowledge of VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGAs
- Knowledge of C and/or C++ for embedded systems
- Background in working with microelectrode arrays (MEAs) or cell-based assay systems
