Truck Mechanic at Port City Logistics Inc – Port Wentworth, Georgia

JOB OVERVIEW:

PortCity is looking for a well-qualified mechanic with a great attitude that can be flexible in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reading work orders to evaluate tasks required on projects
• Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer solutions
• Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
• Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts
• Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
• Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
• Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checks
• Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Previous work experience as a Truck Mechanic

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED and certification and training in diesel engine repair from a vocational school or a community college.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
• A valid driver’s license
• Good interpersonal skills
• Effective collaboration and communication skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderate. Generally, well ventilated, and well lit. Warehouse team members may be required to wear protective clothing. Additionally, may operate heavy equipment and strict safety regulations may be required.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Work is physically strenuous and team members are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds. Work may require excessive bending or stooping. Team members may be required to climb ladders, use hand tools, and/or use heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Light duty options may be available.
