About This Position
Job Summary: The Network Injury Prevention Coordinator for the WMCHealth Trauma Consortium coordinates injury prevention, community and professional outreach education, and program development activities. The Coordinator is responsible for the hands-on,day-to-day management and support of all prevention activities, strategic planning, and budgeting.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design and implementation of a unified network-wide injury prevention strategy based on trauma registry data and community health needs.
• Coordinate, develop, and evaluate injury prevention and public education programs across all five trauma centers.
• Support grant identification, writing, and administration in collaboration with Trauma Program leadership and the WMCHealth grants team.
• Design and distribute educational and promotional materials including flyers, brochures, newsletters, and digital content for use across diverse populations.
• Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders including local, regional, and state agencies, public health departments, school districts, EMS, and nonprofit organizations.
• Deliver community and professional injury prevention education, including Stop the Bleed, fall prevention, distracted driving, child passenger safety, and violence prevention initiatives.
• Maintain a comprehensive Injury Prevention Center and database to monitor outcomes, track outreach efforts, and support continuous improvement.
• Identify injury trends and at-risk populations by analyzing trauma data and translating findings into actionable programming.
• Participate in regional coalitions and state-level injury prevention forums to represent the WMCHealth Trauma Consortium.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to injury prevention programming in alignment with ACS-COT and state trauma system guidance.
Principal Accountabilities:
COORDINATE: Organize and lead network-wide injury prevention events and campaigns based on trauma data and community priorities.
COLLABORATE: Establish collaborative partnerships with hospitals, schools, first responders, nonprofits, and public health agencies to maximize outreach.
MATERIALS: Create and distribute educational content tailored to target audiences including children, older adults, at-risk drivers, and underserved populations.
OUTREACH: Schedule, manage, and deliver injury prevention services including traveling throughout the region to support community-based programs.
GRANTS: Assist with grant writing and proposal development; support program sustainability through strategic fundraising and external funding.
REPORTING: Generate detailed reports and dashboards on injury prevention initiatives and outreach metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
DEVELOPMENT: Engage in continuing education, professional development, and participation in regional and national injury prevention forums.
EDUCATION: Provide educational programming to individuals and groups in both professional and layperson settings; support staff training where appropriate.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Education, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in injury prevention, trauma, public health, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of injury prevention strategies, trauma systems, and public health programming.
• Demonstrated experience in grant writing and program development, preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Certification(s) in injury prevention (e.g., Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, Stop the Bleed Instructor) preferred or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
