SUMMARY:

To provide quality customer service by cutting meat and preparing related products in the variety, size, quality, and trim prescribed by the store and department standards; to execute functions in an efficient manner within store policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Greets customers and provides them withprompt and courteous service or assistance asneeded.
• Assists in checking and verifying the MeatDepartment receivings when necessary.
• Assists with weighing and breaking down meatproducts.
• Takes products to refrigerated storage or shelfareas.
• Ensures that all meat cuts are properly trimmedand attractively presented.
• Ensures that product pricing makes adequateallowances for tare weights and shrink, asapplicable.
• Prices and displays product cases as directed byDepartment Manager.
• Assists in wrapping and labeling product asrequired.
• Rotates all of the products in accordance withdepartment policies and product code dates.
• Assists with scheduled inspections of packagedproducts for freshness and for visual appeal,pulling products for re-wrapping as required.
• Checks refrigeration equipment regularly forproper temperatures and performance.
• Takes care of damaged and spoiled productsaccording to department procedures and takespositive action to control shrinkage.
• Maintains a regular and effective housekeepingand sanitation program that meets all of thestandards established by the department andall applicable health regulations.
• Participates in training activities to increasepersonal skill levels, and to improve overalldepartment processes and customer service.
• Meets the physical requirements to perform thejob functions listed above.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High school education preferred.
