Job Description:
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the System Engineer II is responsible for maintaining and supporting Microsoft Windows and Linux servers. Daily support and administration of servers includes, but is not limited to, installing updates and patches, maintaining and supporting enterprise backups and restores, troubleshooting issues, upgrading hardware, monitoring servers for faults before they occur, ensuring anti-virus software is installed and up to date, as well as providing assistance to other members of the technical team. Also responsible for developing and maintaining domain configurations and identifying issues and recommending corrective actions. Provides support for application issues and offers assistance to application support personnel. Identifies and understands new technologies and recommends them when applicable. The System Engineer II also participates in planned downtimes for system upgrades and maintenance activities as well as an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree related field; equivalent combination of education and 4 years’ experience may also be considered.
- 2 - 4 related work experience including implementing, maintaining and monitoring servers, i.e. Windows, Unix, Linux and/or VMware.
- Experience in Cisco Unified Computing System, Pure Storage, Rubrik Backups, DevOps and Linux Redhat.
- MCSE or MCP certification preferred.
- 2 years’ experience required in IIS and Web Services
- 2 years’ experience required in Active Directory Services
- 2 years’ experience required in the area of virtualization and the usage of VMWare.
- 4 years of server related experience with different hardware platforms and operating systems. Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems mandatory.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience administering Microsoft Exchange, certification preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
- Must be able to work an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
