About This Position
Moffitt’s clinical areas and specialties consist of a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals of all cancer specialties to provide consultations, state-of-the-art diagnoses and treatment planning, symptom management, and follow-up care. All patient cases are presented to specialty tumor and cancer boards for optimal decision making.
Certified Medical Assistants are essential members of the clinic team. They contribute to the healthcare of patients by assisting with exams and procedures, organizing and managing patient flow, and taking on other operational responsibilities based on the needs of each specialized oncology clinical area and specialty.
Some of the daily duties include initial patient screening, taking vital signs, completing screening questions, allergy information, and medication history as appropriate and notifying appropriate staff of positive screening or abnormal vital signs. In addition, Certified Medical Assistants document collected data completely and accurately in medical records and load images in preparation for provider visits, as needed while ensuring patient flow is smooth and efficient.
Depending on the clinic area, Certified Medical Assistants assist practitioners and/or physicians in patient procedures, treatments, and/or examinations using aseptic techniques and universal precautions, including room preparation, patient positioning, supplies, and equipment.
