About This Position
Description:
Position Summary
The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing hands-on maintenance, inspection, repair, and overhaul of turbine engines in accordance with OEM manuals, regulatory requirements, and company standards. This role provides technical leadership to shop technicians, ensures work quality and safety, and supports efficient workflow throughout the engine maintenance process.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Hands-On Work
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing of jet engines and major engine modules.
- Interpret and apply technical data from OEM maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering instructions, and regulatory documents.
- Verify proper installation and operation of components, accessories, and systems before release.
- Ensure all work is completed to FAA/EASA and company standards.
Leadership & Workflow Management
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of technicians; provide guidance on procedures, best practices, and technical issues.
- Assign tasks and manage daily priorities to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Review completed work for accuracy, compliance, and quality before final inspection.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for complex repairs and non-routine findings.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, quality, and parts departments to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Promote and enforce safety policies, proper tool usage, and clean workspace standards.
- Support internal and external audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and enhance shop processes.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in aviation maintenance preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of turbine engine systems and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, drawings, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools, digital documentation systems, and shop equipment.
Preferred:
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
- Experience with specific engine platforms (e.g., CF6-80C2, CF6-80A, CF6-50, GP7200).
- Previous leadership or team-lead experience in a Part 145 or MRO environment.
- Familiarity with CI/5S practices.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
