Clinical Manager

  • Position Summary
    • The Nurse Manager assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care and provides for the development and evaluation unit personnel. The Nurse Manager demonstrates leadership abilities while maintaining the operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with Patient Care Services.
  • Education
    • Bachelors in Nursing - Required
  • Experience
    • 2-3 Years - Required
    • Two or more years clinical and leadership/management experience - Preferred
    • Experience in acute rehabilitation nursing and skilled nursing processes - Preferred
  • License & Certification
    • Registered Nursing License with State of Practice - Required
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Maintains knowledge of staff educational needs and activities related to the unit. Oversees and plans for unit staff educational needs including new hires orientation. Coaching and counseling of with staff for development needs, career planning, and to ensure quality patient care. Coaching staff “in the moment” as staff delivers patient care.
    • Ensures that System goals are incorporated into the working environment of the unit. Manage change and empower others to influence clinical practice and political processes within and across systems. Participates in annual budget process;
    • Coordinates with nurse recruiter/HR to strengthen recruitment measures and resolve/remove obstacles. Follows up on leads; aggressively recruits key candidates, actively promotes and markets job openings to attract strong candidates. Reviews resumes of job candidates; interviews top candidates.
    • Collaboratively with medical director monitors and evaluates overall quality patient care identifying and follow-up with direct patient care issues and unit processes. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team on patients progress and barriers to improving patient functions, medical/physical needs and barriers to discharge. Ensures regulatory readiness maintaining compliance to State and Federal regulatory standards, maintaining compliance to CARF standards.
    • Actively participates in comprehensive retention skills for managers while maintaining an open door policy in order to facilitate communication with staff. Provides a range of mechanisms for staff to voice concerns, give feedback, or make suggestions including documentation and follows up on staff concerns and potential retention problems. Encourages and support staff development and career advancement.
    • Evaluates co-worker’s performance on established standards and completes appropriate paperwork. Facilitates staff development by acting as coach, assisting staff with problem solving techniques, mentoring and building empowered work teams. Facilitates and documents conflict management according to hospital policy and prepares and delivers disciplinary actions in coordination with Human Resources.
