Responsibilities
As a Geospatial Data Technician at SAM, you will process, analyze, and validate data collected from substations and transmission line corridors. Working closely with field personnel and your direct department manager, you’ll ensure that substation’s assets are identified, documented, and will support creating reports that are accurate, complete, and aligned with industry standards.

- Perform daily upload of field-collected substation and transmission line data.
- Using SAM’s proprietary software, you will evaluate incoming data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable project and industry standards.
- Interpret diagrams, schematics, and cross-referencing table to support accurate inventory of assets and reporting.
- Perform quality control (QC) reviews to validate field measurements and ensure deliverable accuracy.
- Manipulate and interpret high-definition imagery and digital files to support measurement analysis and inventory validation.
- Navigate and maintain organized digital records, project documentation, and database files.
- Support utilities projects across multiple regions and provide assistance to other operational units as needed.
- Possible growth into a technical geospatial career.

Qualifications
- Attention to detail and desire to work in a very technical environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and ability to learn new customized software.
- Proficiency working within structured databases.
- Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies and problem-solve in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong analytical and listening skills.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and personal accountability, with ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to interpret substation schematics and/or one-line or 3-lines diagrams.
- Effectively coordinate with field crews to clarify discrepancies and ensure all required data is properly collected.
- Experience with data workflows, including downloading, organizing, and validating data files.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire to grow professionally.
- Following additional experience is a plus:
- 1+ years of experience as a substation technician, lineman, system operator, or related transmission infrastructure role preferred.
- Familiarity with electric transmission systems and conductor analysis, with experience to identify and verify conductor types, code sizing.
- Knowledge of electrical conductors types, rigid bus connections, and other substation equipment is a plus.
- Knowledge of NERC FAC-008 and FAC-009 standards is a plus.
