About This Position

Brookdale Treeland Nurseries Limited (BTN) is one of the largest and most respected growers of garden plants in Canada. We are proud to service garden retailers, landscape contractors, municipalities, and golf courses throughout Canada and the United States.
We service our customers from four farms in Ontario and one in British Columbia with a total land base of over 800 acres. BTN specializes in building full-service programs in the following categories: Flowering Shrubs, Evergreens, Broadleaf Evergreens, Holiday Greens, Vines, Perennials, Trees, Small Fruits and Tropical plants.
This is an exciting role to be a part of the success of our Schomberg Team and is ideal for someone who is looking to work part of the year to support the team through our busiest seasons.

we have a current opening for a Seasonal Operations Supervisor

The ideal candidate will work a term of up to 10 weeks.

Average work hours from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday - occasional weekend work.

Position Description

  • Supervise a team of 20 to 40 workers including our regular staff, International Agricultural Workers, and Temporary Workers
  • Main areas of responsibility –Spring Packaging, Nursery Production
    1. Under the direction of a Program Manager, supervise the daily operational needs
    2. Follow work plans as provided by a Program Manager
    3. Explaining and organizing team to execute work plans
    4. Ensure quality standards are met
    5. Ensuring workers/team have all necessary tools to complete assigned tasks
    6. Track worker/team progress against pre-determined Targets
    7. Submit daily reports on production metrics
    8. With a Program Manager and other supervisors, innovate current processes wherever possible to achieve better results – more efficient, less costly and safer work
  • Contribute to team meetings with other supervisors and/or managers
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively between departments, with subordinates, with colleagues and with upper levels of management
  • Coordinate activities of workers across departments
  • Train workers on Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensure staff are properly educated on the use of tools and equipment that have Industry or BTN training programs
  • Responsible for Inventory transactions of all consumable items and final product
  • Proficiency in Excel (Intermediate/Moderate level)
  • Operate warehouse and farm equipment including forklifts, tractors, loaders and farm implements as required (training provided)
  • Speak and comprehend Spanish is an asset
