JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Maternal Child Department provides safe, compassionate, and family-centered nursing care to obstetric, postpartum, newborn, pediatric, and gynecologic patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or provider. The LPN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to support positive maternal and infant outcomes while promoting patient education, safety, and high-quality care consistent with organizational mission and values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs assessment appropriate to licensure and documents on the patient record.

Participates in development of an age-appropriate plan of care, which addresses physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.

Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately and ensures documentation of interventions.

Assists with patient and family teaching regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.

Assists with evaluating patient response to intervention and revision of plan of care.

Provides service excellence to all customers.

Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
-
Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice and continuing education.

Actively participates in hospital committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.

Scrubs for CS deliveries as needed.
-
Maintains a clean and safe environment.
-
May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients.

Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

Other duties as assigned. This list is non-exhaustive.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education
-
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.

Licensure
-
Current, unrestricted Wyoming Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.

Certifications
-
IV-Certified as required by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing.

Current CPR certification in accordance with hospital policy.
-

Experience
-
One (1) year of experience in Maternal-Child Health (OB, postpartum, nursery) preferred.
