Tournament Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Tournament Coordinator will assist the Head Golf Professional in planning, coordinating, and conducting golf tournaments and events to ensure a memorable experience by providing exceptional customer service. The Tournament Coordinator may be required to work extended shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• Considerable knowledge of golf course etiquette and USGA rules.
• Previous experience planning and coordinating golf tournaments.
• Must have exceptional customer service skills.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, positive attitude and professional demeanor.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks during busy, sometimes stressful times.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and evenings with a positive, enthusiastic outlook.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
• Must be organized, efficient and detail-oriented.
• Must be fiscally responsible and able to accurately execute and maintain financial transactions and records.
• Must have skill to exercise good independent judgment in assessing situations and making decisions.
• Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Word, Excel, Golf Genius and other software programs
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
• Ability to work in a safe manner.
• Possession of and ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• To work with the Head Golf Professional, keeping them aware of all particulars involved in conducting a smooth and rewarding golf experience.
• To serve as the rules official for all tournament rules disputes.
• To prepare appropriate rules sheets for the event following USGA guidelines and local rules.
• To prepare the scorecard and/or summary sheet for the event and to make special notes of any changes which may have occurred in the pairings or correct spelling of play names.
• To prepare cart assignments for the event. Cart assignments are to be neat and computer generated.
• To help coordinate the staging area and starting of the event, including registration, bag handling, special events or contests, on-course activities, tournament greeting and review the rules of play.
• To make sure that the golf shop is informed and up-to-date on all relevant tournament information the day of the event to answer questions for customers.
• To coordinate scoring and posting results of tournament.
• To help display and/or present any awards or prizes and help sell merchandise if Pro Shop credit is used.
• To monitor starting times and pace of play.
• To coordinate post tournament functions. Make sure all materials used for the event are returned to the appropriate location, including, but not limited to proximity markers, tables and chairs, signage, etc.
• Provide guidance regarding tee sheet management to increase yield and maximize golf course occupancy.
• Assists with various responsibilities during tournament and/or outings to ensure customers’ needs are met.
• To help in the golf shop or concessions areas, if requested and to share in the responsibilities of checking in golfers.
• Performs other duties as required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time may be required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
• Inside or Outside Golf Clubhouse on any given event
• May be exposed to elements of weather that can be at time hot or cold
