About This Position
The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Alfred State invites applicants to apply for a full-time, tenure-track position teaching courses in human services and psychology. The department is looking for a qualified candidate who will help support programs in human services and applied psychology. Some of the courses this hire will be expected to teach include Community Psychology, Human Relations, and upper and lower-level human services classes.
In addition to teaching 15 contact hours per semester, responsibilities include meeting with students through regularly scheduled office hours, advising students on academic-related issues, and participating in curriculum, departmental, college, and professional community activities. Superior written and oral communication skills are preferred as well as a commitment to mentoring student research. This position is an on-campus position.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work or a closely related field
- Teaching experience (high school, college, adult education, training, or
instructional roles)
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent)
- Professional experience in community relations, human services, nonprofit,
public health, health administration, or social services management
