- Use cranes, rigging, and lifting devices to safely handle heavy components.
- Fit gaskets, seals, hardware, and other components to ensure proper tank assembly before drying.
Drying & Vacuum Operations:
- Operate oven-drying systems, vapor-phase drying units, or vacuum drying equipment depending on transformer type.
- Monitor temperature, drying cycles, and vacuum levels to ensure proper moisture removal from windings and insulation systems.
- Record process parameters and verify compliance with specifications.
- Inspect for leaks, improper seals, or vacuum loss; perform corrective actions as necessary.
Oil Processing & Filling:
- Prepare and maintain transformer insulating fluid (oil) to required purity levels, including degassing, filtering, and moisture testing.
- Operate oil-processing and transfer equipment to fill transformers under vacuum.
- Monitor fill levels, pressure changes, oil temperature, and flow rates.
- Perform post-filling checks, including leak inspection, top-off, and sampling for moisture/quality testing.
Quality & Documentation:
- Complete all production documentation, traveler steps, test logs, and inspection forms accurately.
- Ensure proper traceability for oils, materials, and processing cycles.
- Communicate issues with tank fit, vacuum performance, drying anomalies, or oil contamination to supervisors or engineering.
- Support internal audits and quality inspections as required.
Safety & Equipment Care:
- Follow all safety procedures related to crane operation, hot surfaces, confined spaces, and pressurized/vacuum systems.
- Use PPE such as gloves, respirators, face shields, and protective clothing when handling oils and chemicals.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness, perform basic maintenance checks, and report equipment abnormalities.
- Ensure adherence to spill-prevention and environmental handling requirements for insulating fluids.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1-3 years of industrial manufacturing or mechanical equipment experience.
- Ability to operate overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and lifting devices safely.
- Basic understanding of vacuum systems, drying ovens, pumps, and fluid processing equipment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, work instructions, and production travelers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Comfortable working with oils, chemicals, and high-temperature equipment.
- Experience in transformer manufacturing or high-voltage equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, lean manufacturing, or 5S practices preferred.
