Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

· Collaborate with the Director of Player Health and the medical staff and performance staff to develop and implement relevant services to ensure a robust program of injury and illness prevention/management and individual medical care for the team.

· Support the Director of Player Health in compliance with league and team reporting requirements, including EMR and other team related platforms (ActionApps, internal communications)

· Support evidence-based preventative rehabilitation strategies and early-stage rehab performance plans tailored to each individual player.

· Deliver front facing emergency care and ensure all legal requirements are met within the team’s EAP and league protocols.

· Provide hands-on injury response and evaluation. Collaborate with medical staff to escalate medical care to other providers including the team physician as needed.

· Support the players’ pre and post practice and game treatments including the utilization of resources on-site or organizing care such as recovery boots, stim machines, additional modalities, etc off-site.

· Travel with the team for all road trips including pre-season, regular season, and post-season.

· Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, clear communication skills, and consistency of work ethic and character within an athlete-centric environment.

Additional Responsibilities include the following.

· Support the medical staff in managing equipment and supplies. Maintain and organized system for medical supplies and surplus inventory.

· Collaborate with the medical staff to help team pack supplies and equipment for team away games.

· Maintain state licensure and certifications.

· Maintain WNBA and HIPPA confidentiality standards regarding all matters related to the players and organization.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in athletic training or a related field
  • Master’s Degree in athletic training highly preferred

Related experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a certified athletic trainer or physical therapist (head is preferred) in a professional or NCAA Division 1 basketball setting including working with female athletes preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

  • National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC)
  • Life support certification (BLS, BTLS, ACLS, or ATLS)
  • Must be qualified to obtain and maintain athletic trainer or physical therapist license in Washington state.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Must maintain annual or biannual Basic Life Support as required by the NATA BOC. .

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Familiarity with EMR platforms, performance data systems (vald systems), excellent communication and organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels, ability to collaborate and operate within a player-centered care philosophy.
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Proficient in human movement science, including assessment, programming, and solution execution using models such as FMS, SFMA or the NASM Movement Screen.
  • Proficient in applying the NASM OPT model and experience collaborating with a performance team in execution for athletes.
  • Experience managing sport-specific injuries, including achilles tendinopathy/repairs and ACL rehabilitation, from prevention strategies through return-to-play.
  • technical Skills:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of EMR/record keeping, sport science and ability to utilize technology and data, legal/compliance of regulations such as HIPAA, state laws, league protocols, operation and administrative efficiency such as use of the Microsoft suite.

Compensation: $90,000-$120,000 annual salary

The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; use feet to operate foot pedal operation; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to various work environments including loud music, bright lights, and other elements of a basketball game or event. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
