About This Position
Position Description: Partner with Perfumer and precisely compound chemicals for complex fragrance samples by following formulas with a sharp focus on accuracy while ensuring adherence to laboratory safety guidelines and procedures. This is accomplished with a working knowledge of various equipment and raw materials while maintaining a clean and safe environmen Job Advertisement:
The Fragrance Lab Technician will be working out of new Creative Center in Hackensack, NJ. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Follows all safety and compounding procedures outlined in the Lab Tech Manual; maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment and complies with all chemical handling regulations.
- Accurately measures ingredients using scales; records substitutions, over-pours, and adjustments with supervisor approval; measures flash points for sample submissions.
- Compounds complex formulations for samples and at the request of Perfumers to ensure accuracy and timely completion of deadlines; provides assistance to Perfumers as required.
- Organizes and prioritizes projects in coordination with the Sample Coordinator and/or Application Lab; prints formulas as requested by the Fragrance Design Department.
- Monitors and responds to compounding lab email in a timely manner.
- Manages inventory by checking raw material availability for production, preparing inventory lists for ordering, restocking supplies, labeling raw materials from production, and replenishing bottles with oils according to Lab Tech Manual procedures.
- Retrieves bottles from the library for new orders, packing, or QC investigations; maintains records of new orders and prints formulas when not in stock.
- Packs approved batches for shipment, ensuring accurate labeling and proper preparation.
- Ensures equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and in good working condition.
- Completes end-of-day procedures, including filing powders, repacking, and general housekeeping.
- Assists with new employee training as directed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications for this position:
- BA and/or BS degree in Chemistry, Biology or other related fields preferred.
- 3-5 years lab experience, must be familiar with lab safety protocols.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have creative thinking, and strong organizational skills.
- Computer literacy skills required.
