SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, staff, and supervise all assigned work unit activities through subordinate managers to ensure a cohesive operational unit.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and direction to subordinates to further professional development.
  • Ensure a competent review and coordination of shop drawings, submittals, samples, and specifications sheets to assure compliance with the Contract Documents.
  • Oversee quality and timeliness of Change Orders and Transaction Orders and approval of subcontractor invoices and requisitions.
  • Assign responsibility for daily construction reports, weekly profess reports, and monthly project reports, and ensure quality and thoroughness of reports.
  • Ensure timely submission and thoroughness of monthly requisitions.
  • Assist in the collection of all billings from division.
  • Conduct monthly job reviews for each project under construction.
  • Oversee safety and quality control processes and procedures at assigned projects in strict adherence to the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Attend required corporate meetings, training programs, and Harkins University seminars/webinars and reinforce those same requirements within assigned teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Review plans and specifications and identify project risks, unique features and complexities.
  • Review and approve Owner Contract, exhibits, clarifications and exclusions.
  • Review and approve initial project budgets, subcontracts, and purchases.
  • Lead the estimating department in the pre-construction/budget/plan and specification review of new projects.
  • Review and approve construction budgets, value engineering and other cost saving measures.
  • Hold primary profit/loss responsibility for the project and assigned operational units.
  • Coach, mentor, and train direct reports, and assist with professional development, insure same is being provided for subordinate team members, and set expectation for further education and training of team members.
  • Oversee the proper response and resolution of all issues identified during job reviews or project warranty periods.
  • Participate in business development activities to market the Company, improve client relations, and solicit new business.
  • Maintain professionalism and integrity with all contacts.
  • Promote a positive company image through professional and fair business relationships and community service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four (4)-year degree in an accredited construction-related curriculum (BSCE, BSAE, or related discipline).
  • Cumulative total of twelve (12) years of progressive experience in ground-up new construction, renovation, estimating, and contracting as an estimator, project manager, and/or site lead superintendent on negotiated and hard bid projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and train team members and monitor their work for quality and completeness.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages the personal and professional growth of all team members.
  • Hold self and others accountable to Company policies, procedures, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve project and Company goals.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Complete knowledge of subcontract negotiations, estimating, scheduling, accounting, and contract law.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbally and in writing); ability to communicate effectively with all parties associated with assigned projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively, thoroughly, and efficiently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Procore, DocuSign, PeopleSoft, Viewpoint, Phoenix, and Primavera P6.
  • Proficient with HUD and AIA contract documents, and in particular cost plus GMP contracts.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

Harkins offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, retirement/401k, and Company Contribution plan. Additional benefits include life insurance, short & long-term disability, HSA/FSA, tuition reimbursement, and mileage and expense reimbursement. For this role, the base salary range is $140,000-160,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
