About This Position
People Places is actively recruiting a part-time Youth Mentor for our community-based Prevention Services Unit. Our ideal candidate is a dedicated and compassionate individual who is eager to make a positive impact in their community and in the lives of children and teens. A Youth Mentor is entrusted with building professional, strengths-based mentoring relationships that foster confidence, resilience, and positive growth. Through structured, community-based support and positive role modeling, Youth Mentors help young people develop life skills, strengthen communication and problem-solving abilities, and work toward individualized goals identified by their treatment team.
At this time, we have a particular need for male mentors to help meet the needs and preferences of some of the youth we currently serve.

Requirements:Responsibilities and Duties:
- Youth Mentors establish supportive, strengths-based mentoring relationships with youth and related stakeholders, grounded in trust and respect, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Provide consistent face-to-face mentoring and communication with youth and related stakeholders, including organizing community outings collaboratively with youth, typically once a week (most cases are funded for 20–25 hours per month), supporting the achievement of individualized goals identified by the treatment team within approved service hours and timeframes.
- Maintain timely, thorough, and professional records and documentation, including case notes and progress updates.
- Participate in team meetings, monthly individual and group supervision, and ongoing training to support professional development and youth progress.
- Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities and adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications and skills:
? Associates degree or high school diploma or equivalent plus appropriate training and experience.
? Experience working in the community with youth from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
? Experience working with children and teens who have experienced trauma.
? Excellent written and oral communication skills to objectively track and report data.
? Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
? The ability to function well within interdisciplinary treatment teams.
? Dedication to the principles of service, social justice, integrity, and the inherent dignity and worth of every person.
? Reliable form of transportation to visit and transport clients within the surrounding area
? The availability to spend several hours each week with each family.
