Position Summary: This position involves teaching second-grade language arts, mathematics, and social studies.

• Provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences in language arts, math, social studies, and other subjects suited to students’ needs
• Encourage an inclusive learning environment that accepts the students’ different perspectives and backgrounds, and elicits a greater understanding of the world around them
• Utilize various teaching methods to engage different learning styles for students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities
• Carry out ongoing assessment of students’ needs; write and modify the lesson plans as needed; maintain student achievement records
• Manage student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
• Work cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to develop instructional materials that are most appropriate for meeting curricular objectives
• Maintain substitute plans and engage substitutes in advance when needed and possible
• Follow school procedures and regulations
• Meet reporting deadlines and requirements and follow school-wide procedures for reporting progress/grades
• Attend and actively participate in Academy-wide and school faculty meetings
• Assist with projects and school-wide initiatives
• Engage in goal setting and continuous improvement as a teacher
• All other duties as assigned

The 2nd Grade Teacher, Woodward North position is an exempt, 10-month position.
