- We’re seeking a Parts Assistant Manager to join our growing family business. This role is perfect for a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and wants to make a real impact.
The Assistant Parts manager works with day to day operations and the general needs of the Omaha location. This role will identify, plan, order and maintain appropriate parts for refrigeration units availability at the company’s rail locations in various geographic areas. Perform cycle counts twice a year at each location and monitor inventory levels. Initiate daily contact with each supervisor at the rail locations to make sure their needs are met so the rail fleet operations runs smoothly Enhances organizations reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing work that meets and exceeds customer expectations.
Requirements:What You’ll Do
Parts Management & Inventory Control:
- Forecast daily parts usage and order supplies through Fusion software.
- Track daily usage and receiving of parts in Karmak Fusion.
- Create Purchase Orders (POs) for weekly stock replenishments and report to management.
- Coordinate bi-weekly truck replenishments to ensure drivers are fully equipped.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Ship and receive parts to ensure each location is properly stocked.
- Manage red-label orders, special orders, drop-ship orders, and obsolete parts removal.
- Conduct inventory cycle counts, post results, and control branch inventory valuations.
- Review service order parts deletions, negative stock quantities, and part supersession updates.
- Seek cost savings from vendors while maintaining inventory readiness.
- Handle customer SATs, freight claims, and manage customer consignments.
Operational Excellence:
- Prioritize, plan, and organize parts ordering and inventory processes.
- Multi-task and manage time effectively to meet the needs of all Nebraska branches.
- Travel occasionally (~10% of the job).
- Perform nightly parts pull reviews and monitor open purchase/sales orders.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills with a willingness to learn new software.
- Strong attention to detail, follow-up, and organizational skills.
- Excellent active listening, oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs and work in hot/cold environments.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and wearing PPE.
