Safety Manager-Construction at Sterling Construction Company, Inc. – Clay, New York

Petillo Construction is looking for an experienced Safety Manager who takes pride in building safe, high-performing jobsites.

If you’ve spent your career in heavy civil construction and believe safety is more than paperwork — it’s leadership, presence, and accountability in the field — we want to talk with you.

This role will partner directly with operations leadership to drive safety across complex infrastructure projects including sitework, utilities, roadway, and heavy civil construction throughout New York.

What You'll Do

• Lead safety efforts across active heavy civil projects

• Conduct jobsite safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations

• Partner with project teams to proactively identify and eliminate hazards

• Support field leadership with training, compliance, and best practices

• Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards

• Help build a culture where safety is owned by everyone on the jobsite

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of safety experience in heavy civil or infrastructure construction

• Strong field presence and ability to influence crews and leadership

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards

• Experience with incident investigations and corrective action plans

• Ability to travel between project sites in New York
