Reclaim Operator at Palmetto Corp. of Conway – Greer, South Carolina

Reports To: Foreman / Superintendent

The Reclaim Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of asphalt reclaiming equipment to pulverize and recycle existing pavement for reuse in road construction projects. This role plays a key part in full-depth reclamation (FDR) and stabilization processes, ensuring the reclaimed material meets project specifications for size, depth, and consistency. The Reclaim Operator works closely with the grading and paving crews to support timely and high-quality project completion.

• Operate asphalt reclaiming/stabilizing machines to pulverize and recycle existing pavement materials.
• Set and adjust machine controls to achieve specified depth, width, and gradation.
• Monitor material consistency and moisture content to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate with foreman, grader operators, and other crew members to ensure smooth workflow.
• Perform daily pre-operational and post-operational inspections of the reclaim machine.
• Conduct routine maintenance such as greasing, cleaning, and replacing wear parts.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major repair needs to the supervisor.
• Maintain safe work practices, especially when working near live traffic or other heavy equipment.
• Follow all company safety policies, DOT/OSHA regulations, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Assist with general site work or other equipment operations as directed.

• Minimum 1 year of experience operating an asphalt reclaiming or stabilization machine, or similar heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of full-depth reclamation and soil stabilization processes preferred.
• Ability to read and follow project specifications, grade stakes, and instructions from supervisors.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Work in high-noise environments and around heavy machinery.

Ability to work long or irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as required by project schedules.
