Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily transportation, hauling, and support operations to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant waste collection and disposal
- Drive operational excellence by establishing performance standards, monitoring key metrics, and implementing continuous process improvements
- Partner with Division and District leadership to develop, manage, and control operational budgets and financial performance
- Conduct comprehensive investigations of incidents and injuries, ensuring corrective actions, training, and accountability measures are implemented effectively
- Oversee workforce management activities including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, training, and disciplinary actions
- Provide leadership input regarding employee advancement, compensation, incentive eligibility, and separation decisions
- Develop and execute short-term and long-term operational strategies aligned with organizational objectives and regional priorities
- Participate in routine financial and operational reviews to ensure profitability through effective labor management, equipment utilization, and cost control
- Maintain strong relationships with municipal agencies, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to support customer satisfaction and business growth
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve employee relations matters and foster a positive, engaged, and accountable work culture
- Support the design, execution, and monitoring of safety programs, ensuring compliance and proactive risk mitigation across all operations
- Perform regular field observations to verify adherence to service standards, safety requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations or contracts
- Monitor routing systems and operational data to maximize efficiency of vehicles, equipment, and personnel while ensuring daily route completion
- Serve as a key operational liaison with municipal officials and community organizations to strengthen partnerships and service delivery
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory standards
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Safety teams to implement technical, operational, and leadership training programs
- Provide leadership oversight for all safety-related training initiatives and mentor supervisors in safety leadership and best practices
- Respond to critical operational incidents as required, including outside of normal business hours
- Analyze operational demands and seasonal trends to determine appropriate staffing levels and resource allocation
- Demonstrate professionalism and a positive leadership presence with employees, peers, leadership, and customers
Skills/Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent professional experience in transportation, construction, waste services, or a related operational field
- Extensive management experience leading diverse operational teams
- Proven ability to manage complex operations, projects, and resources in a dynamic environment
- Strong leadership capability with demonstrated success in coaching, motivating, and developing employees
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while meeting deadlines and performance objectives
- Proficiency in standard business software and reporting tools, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Strong numerical aptitude and full proficiency in written and verbal English communication
- Comprehensive knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations and operational compliance requirements
- Demonstrated experience evaluating operational performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and presenting actionable recommendations
- Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of waste industry operations, standards, and best practices
- Proven ability to manage challenging customer and stakeholder relationships effectively
- Experience developing and managing budgets and addressing employee relations matters
- Ability to lead decisively in complex, fast-moving environments requiring sound judgment, strategic focus, and urgency
