Worksite: VA HospitalEMR: RPMSPreferred Schedule: 7a-7p; 8a-8p; 9a-9p, 10a-10p, 12p-8p OR 7p-7a Low Volume ER: 9,094 Annual admissions: 1400Requirements: ABEM certificationBLS, ACLS DEAAny state medical licenseResponsibilities: Emergent intake, patient assessment, patient history, physical examinations, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests/studies, emergent resuscitation, and management of difficult airways.Interprets ECGs and selected radiographic tests; performs invasive procedures for which incumbent is credentialed. Initiates consults as well as referrals after discharge from the Emergency Department, Prescribes medications/supplies in accordance with VA policy and VA formulary and State regulations.Coordinate patient treatment plans (involve Primary Care and specialists as appropriate). Order appropriate diagnostic tests as necessary to complete the evaluation.Admit patients to the hospital or discharge them from the ED with appropriate follow-up.Perform medication reconciliation with all ED discharged patients.Participate in Quality Assurance, chart reviews, and support applicable ED performance measures.Coordinate patient care with consultants as deemed appropriate.Provide physician oversight to nursing staff and other mid-level staff members.Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews.Attend physician staff meetings
