The Role
As a Senior Product Designer, you are the voice of the user, ensuring our products are both usable and effective while supporting our business goals. This role is on our Product Design team and collaborates closely with Product Management and Development from ideation to launch. As a senior contributor, you will draw on your expertise, UX research, and best practices to help shape the future of our user experience, meticulously crafting valuable solutions that delight our users.
What You’ll Build
Understand the problem space:

• Build on business insights and customer foundations to craft and conduct research to understand user needs, behaviours, pain points, and motivations related to the problem space.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to analyze and synthesize findings and identify the product implications.
• Craft journey maps, workflows, and other artifacts to articulate research insights and ground cross-functional conversations.
• Maintain a laser focus on user needs, expectations and evolving markets to build and deliver quality solutions.

Design solutions:

• Be involved in all aspects of product development, working closely with product managers, developers, and other teams.
• Create simple, beautiful, and intuitive user experiences that delight our users and add value to our customers.
• Observe customers interacting with existing solutions or prototypes to identify areas of friction and uncover usability issues to steer your solutions in the right direction.
• Contribute to the overall architecture of the platform experience and of our product offerings.

Help to develop a product and design first culture:

• Be an advocate for great product experiences across all teams at Axonify.

• Champion the design tools and processes that help us make good decisions and build impactful products.
• Contribute to improving processes, increasing team efficiency, improving user experiences, and ensuring excellence in our designs and user experiences.
• Work transparently with cross-functional partners to foster alignment, share knowledge, and build trust

What You’ll Bring

• You are an experienced designer with the ability to execute on all phases of the design process and pragmatically apply the right activities and practices based on project needs and constraints.
• You think in terms of outcomes, research, exploration, learning, and constant iteration, and are great at thinking systemically and simplifying complexity.
• You care about collaboration and ensuring healthy cross-functional collaboration.
• You examine all processes critically and are always thinking of how to improve.
• You are curious about the problems of the frontline workforce and have the grit and determination to solve them.
• You are willing to adopt new practices and have experimented with and/or adopted practices for designing for and with AI.
• You have a fine-tuned balance of accountability for results and customer and user empathy.
• You are comfortable with the evolving needs of a scale-up that is making bold plays in the market to differentiate in frontline environments.

Work Location
While our preference is for the Senior Product Designer to be local to our Waterloo or Toronto offices to support in-person collaboration and join fellow Axonifers for "Work from Work Wednesdays", we welcome remote applicants based in Canada. Remote candidates should be able to work Eastern Time hours and be available to travel to our Waterloo or Toronto offices for occasional team meetings or events.
