About This Position
We are looking for an Intern for the Real Estate Solutions division during the summer of 2026 (10 weeks). This energetic self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in real estate, site development, economic development, and process management. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.
Duties:
- Conduct research on strategic sites relating to property readiness such as zoning restrictions and height restrictions
- Support grant initiatives for the Virginia Business Ready Sites Program and the Virginia Brownfields Assistance Fund by automating the grant intake process
- Conduct analysis on target sector requirements for real estate
- Other duties, as needed
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Interest in real estate development, construction, or engineering
- Interest in process management and using systems such as AI to automate processes
- Excellent planning, organizational and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Basic or advanced data analysis experience with Excel and PowerBI
- Comfortable using social media platforms and online GIS tools
- Previous research and data experience (preferred but not required)
Qualifications Preferred:
This individual has a high degree of intellectual curiosity and is a self-starter with the ability to learn new topics and concepts quickly. Pursuit of a bachelor’s or graduate degree in real estate, economics, engineering, business or related field is preferred.
The intern has the option to work: (i) full-time, hybrid – working a minimum of 24 hours per week (3 days) in our Richmond office and up to 16 hours per week (2 days) from home OR (ii) part-time, in person – working a minimum of 24 hours per week (3 days) in our Richmond office.
