Pay Range: Hourly Range: $30.00 – $41.00

Performance will be reviewed after 6-month probationary period.

Position Summary

Sun City Lincoln Hills Community Association is a luxury 55+ community with two recreation centers at the Orchard Creek and Kilaga Springs Lodges. Some amenities are exclusive to residents, such as the fitness centers, shared interest clubs, and activity groups. We also warmly welcome the public to enjoy our Meridian’s Restaurant, the Kilaga Springs Café, and the Spa at Kilaga Springs.

A Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading multiple group fitness classes that range in variety, levels and formats. This includes 32 count, cueing and organizing choreography to ensure the safety and enjoyment of residents of SCLH. Group Exercise Instructor ensures that all support and service is conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the mission of Sun City Lincoln Hills Wellfit Department.

Key Responsibilities

Group Exercise/Session based Program Support:
*Create, implement and update classes using generally accepted techniques and dynamics of Group Fitness classes
*Teach assigned fitness classes while providing a safe and fun environment for residents
*Promote knowledge of proper group fitness components, i.e., warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, etc.
*Knowledgeable in a variety of class formats
*Provide customer service to the residents
*Maintain Group Fitness equipment and room – set up and clean up
*Maintain a specialty certification for all specialty classes taught (yoga, Arthritis, Diabetes etc.)
*Attend, (at own expense), continuing education workshops as required for certification
*Attend WellFit meetings to be held on an as needed basis
*Participate in promotions as needed
*Read announcements in class
*Arrive 5 minutes before class to welcome residents and sign in
*Schedule all substitute teachers when unable to teach class using department software
*Other duties as assigned by management
*Required to keep a minimum number of students specific to class format

Required Qualifications

*High school diploma or equivalent
*Must have and maintain a current Group Fitness related certification from a national organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM) or a degree in a related field
*Must have and maintain a current First Aid certification or equivalent
*Must have and maintain a current Adult CPR/AED certification or equivalent
*Excellent written and oral communication skills (English) and organizational skills
*Computer skills using Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

*Ability to exchange and receive information through written and oral communications. Must be able to speak in a clear and understandable voice so that communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities
*Duties of maintaining files, records and equipment will involve stooping, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects weighing as much as 45 lbs. This type of activity may occur several times throughout the day
*Performance of duties will require employees to be both inside and outside. Inside temperature will be controlled and the use of fluorescent lighting. Outside may be exposed to the elements that may be sun, wind, rain, cold, and extreme heat
*Must be able to exchange and receive information over the telephone and computer
*Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed

Work Environment

*Must be able to work constructively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of the department's mission
*Must be able to work in indoor/outdoor aquatic areas, in the presence of aquatic chemicals and humid environments
*Must be able to work in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled area, sufficient in size to allow freedom of movement to accomplish tasks
