JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Components Engineer

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The team associate with this role is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting Digital and RF Products, and you will play a key role in ensuring the electrical components in the modules meet the highest reliability requirements and product life cycle requirements. This role will oversee the proper selection of components for electrical or mechanical assemblies

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS

  • A strong background in component engineering
  • Test and select integrated circuits, resistors, capacitors, connectors and many other electronic parts
  • Design, evaluate, and qualify components to make sure they meet the product needs
  • Handle component changes due to obsolescence or supply shortages - Assist with location of component sources vendors and manufacturers, locate alternate sources, find components substitutions along with qualification strategy
  • Researching component termination styles, plastic encapsulation styles, and component construction processes
  • Generating Vendor Identification Drawings, Source Control Drawings, and Altered Item Drawings
  • Calculating an accurate cost analysis forecast for a project
  • Completing the required technical and regulatory documents
  • Rigorously testing products, software or infrastructure
  • Ensuring projects are completed on-time with the specified budget
  • Strong understanding of theoretical and practical use of electronics, device physics, semiconductor components and related technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of various materials and their properties to aid in decision making when deciding between different components.
  • Ability to work with testing various components for their suitability, as well as a proficient in testing methods and qualification processes in order to meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Strong adherence to quality standards for all component testing and decision making.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in requirements, technological advancements
  • Effective communication when interacting with department, colleagues and vendors. Ability to articulate thoughts coherently for project completed.
  • Excellent ability to problem solve in identifying and solving issues with component availability, cost pressures and quality assurance. A strong ability to problem solve using logical thinking, deciphering complex scenarios and implementing effective solutions.
  • A strong ability to work together in a team or independently to achieve common goals while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Requirements:

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's in electrical engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience/combined education and 5+ years of professional level experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of high reliability military component standards and specifications is required
