About This Position
Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented HR Benefits Specialist to support benefits administration, leave management, and workforce transitions, with a strong emphasis on integrating newly acquired employees during mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This role will play a key part in onboarding and aligning incoming staff with company benefits programs, policies, and compliance standards, while also managing leave programs, workers’ compensation, and seasonal workforce transitions.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting organizational change, benefits harmonization, and ensuring a seamless employee experience during periods of growth and restructuring.
Key Responsibilities
M&A Integration & Workforce Transitions
- Lead benefits onboarding and integration efforts for newly acquired employees.
- Harmonize benefit plans, eligibility rules, and leave policies during acquisitions.
- Coordinate benefits enrollments, system updates, and employee communications related to integration.
- Partner with payroll, finance, and leadership to ensure accurate employee data transfer and compliance.
- Support change management efforts to ensure a smooth transition for impacted employees.
FMLA & Leave Administration
- Administer FMLA, state leave programs, and company leave policies.
- Manage eligibility tracking, documentation, medical certifications, and return-to-work processes.
- Ensure compliance with federal and multi-state leave regulations.
- Provide clear and timely communication to employees and managers.
Workers’ Compensation
- Manage workers’ compensation claims from intake through resolution.
- Coordinate with carriers, medical providers, and leadership on modified duty and return-to-work programs.
- Monitor claim status and ensure regulatory compliance.
Unemployment Claims Support
- Submit and track unemployment claims related to workforce changes, including seasonal layoffs.
- Respond to agency requests and maintain documentation as needed.
Benefits Administration & Compliance
- Administer health, retirement, and ancillary benefits programs
- Responsible for 401K Audit and ACA reporting
- Support open enrollment and benefits changes.
- Maintain accurate HRIS records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Provide reporting and analytics related to benefits utilization and workforce trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in benefits administration, leave management, or workforce integration.
- Experience supporting M&A activity or large-scale employee onboarding preferred.
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, workers’ compensation, and multi-state leave laws.
- Familiarity with unemployment claims processes.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities during periods of change.
- Strong communication and change-management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in integrating employees into HRIS systems (e.g., ADP).
- Knowledge of benefits harmonization during acquisitions.
- Experience in fast-paced or seasonal workforce environments.
