About the role

  • CBH Medical is seeking Medication Aides to join the medical team at Western Tidewater Regional Jail. In this role, you will support the medical and nursing staff by providing personal care and hygiene assistance to inmates, as well as completing essential clerical tasks to ensure efficient daily operations.

What you'll do

  • Dispense oral, inhalation, and topical medications to patients in accordance with established protocols.
  • Observe patients for medication reactions or adverse effects and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
  • Monitor vital signs, calculate medication dosages, and maintain a fully stocked medication cart.
  • Document all administered medications and dosages in the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
  • Assist nursing staff and the office manager with maintaining medical inventory and placing supply orders as needed.
  • File charts, MARs, lab reports, and other documents; pull and refile records for discharged inmates.
  • Participate in and support safety initiatives, including OSHA-required trainings and health and safety programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient medical operations.

Qualifications

  • Medication Aide certification through the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent education (high school diploma or GED required).
  • Current CPR certification.

  • PRN
  • Full-Time Day Shift (6:30am-3:00pm)
  • Full-Time Evening Shift (3:00pm-11:00pm)
