Position SummaryThe Prep Cook is responsible for preparing hot and cold food items for à la carte and banquet service while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. This role requires strict adherence to recipes, food safety standards, and sanitation practices, while supporting overall kitchen operations as needed.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare hot and cold menu items for à la carte and banquet service
Ensure food is prepared and ready at least 30 minutes prior to service
Follow recipes accurately to maintain consistency in quality and presentation
Manage and rotate inventory, including salads, dressings, and bar items
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen areas
Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens and prep equipment
Assist with dishwashing and support other kitchen areas as needed
Communicate equipment or ingredient issues to the Kitchen Supervisor
Support line operations during high-volume periods
Perform other duties as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3–6 months of prep cook or kitchen experience
Ability to follow instructions and recipes with accuracy
Basic math skills
Culinary school certification
ServSafe certification
Previous experience in banquet or high-volume kitchen environments
Strong attention to detail and organization
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication and teamwork skills

Working Conditions & EnvironmentExposure to hot and cold environments, including kitchens and freezers
Frequent use of ovens, hot surfaces, and kitchen equipment
Requires standing for extended periods and manual dexterity
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
Must be available for mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
