The Opportunity

You will bridge the gap between client vision and physical production by transforming complex design drawings into precise fabrication blueprints. This role offers the unique opportunity to manage the full technical lifecycle of a projectfrom calculating initial material and labor costs to modeling 3D assembly sequences for storage tanks, stacks, and ductwork. You will be a key technical lead, ensuring that every project is financially viable and engineered for manufacturing excellence.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Interpret client design drawings to ensure absolute engineering accuracy before production begins.

• Create and modify detailed shop drawings using Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD to define welding, bolting, and material specifications.

• Develop comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) for every project to coordinate precise material procurement and inventory management.

• Utilize 3D modeling software to sequence jobs and establish accurate design documentation that prevents shop floor bottlenecks.

• Calculate detailed estimates for materials, labor, and equipment to produce competitive and profitable project quotations.

• Analyze financial and operational risks during the estimation phase to safeguard project margins and delivery timelines.

• Collaborate with clients and subcontractors to resolve design or construction issues proactively before they impact the fabrication schedule.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in steel detailing, fabrication estimating, or project management.

• Advanced proficiency in CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.

• Expert-level blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret complex industrial plans and specifications.

• Proven experience in material take-offs and labor cost estimation within the steel industry.

• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Experience with specialized fabrication take-off software.

• Practical knowledge of welding processes and corrosion-resistant lining requirements.

• Proven track record of managing multiple high-value project estimates simultaneously under tight deadlines.
