POSITION SCOPE:
Reporting to the Neighborhood Supervisor and Lead and aligning their actions and goals with The Meadows, Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies, Procedures and Philosophy of Care. The CCA/PCW/HHP/HHA will provide a full range of quality, resident-focused duties including personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation and recreational duties in a homelike setting for the residents living at The Meadows. This position may require from time to time, sharing the care duties of the facility pets. The position requires flexible hours – including days, evenings, nights and weekends, call-in’s and short notice shifts. This position requires individuals who possess a positive attitude and promotes a positive work environment. The Meadows is a member of the HANS group Employee Benefits Plan.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
- It is a requirement to maintain a current yearly NS CCA registration with the NS CCA Registry. PCWs are required to maintain a yearly NS Conditional registration with the NS CCA Registry and become a CCA within 3 years of employment.
- Demonstrated sincere willingness and passion to engage and participate with those who live in our home, in particular those with severe cognitive disabilities and be sensitive to their emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual and social needs with compassionate and caring attitude in line with our Persons Centered Philosophy of care and our vision of ENRICHING LIVES DAILY
- Relate well to those who live and work in our home with a compassionate, caring, respectful attitude with a strong customer service and stakeholder mindset and respects each resident as an individual and is aware of his/her need for self-respect and privacy
- CCA Certification in NS or under the NS Educational Requirements for Entry to Practice Guidelines for LTC
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team, under supervision, and independently
- Above average interpersonal and judgment skills.
- Loyal, responsible and trustworthy.
- Well organized, self-directed, resourceful with demonstrated ability to plan and set priorities
- Effective communication skills – verbal, written and reading
- Ability to adapt to change, keep things in confidence and willingness to attend education and grow in your career.
- Reliable and commit to attend work on a regular basis and ability to perform core physical duties involving lifting, bending, and stretching.
- As a member of a “house team”, also responsible for sharing the care duties of facility pets and participating in neighborhood guide training and team building.
- Must have or be willing to take CPR certification, GPA, Teepa Snow, Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Dementia Care Course, Non-Crisis Violent Intervention, Food Handler’s Course, Eden Philosophy of Care
WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO HAVE
- Previous and recent experience as a CCA/PCW working with Dementia
- Ability to use a computer
Offers of employment conditional upon providing a satisfactory, criminal/vulnerable sector check
Certified CCA’s currently registered with the NS CCA Registry will be considered first. If this position is unable to be filled by a certified CCA, this position may be offered to a CCAIT/PCWSTU as a TFT x 1 year.
