Faculty Position – BE/BC Intensivist

The Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is actively
seeking BE/BC Intensivists to join our faculty. Opportunities for clinicians, clinician-educators, and
clinician-scientists are available. Candidates must possess outstanding communication and
interpersonal skills and demonstrate a strong dedication to educating the next generation of
clinicians. The ideal candidate will showcase exceptional clinical expertise, an ability to collaborate
effectively with physician leaders from various specialties, and the aptitude to implement changes
that align with best medical practices, institutional goals, and regulatory requirements. The
candidate is expected to provide clinical care in one or more ICUs in the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare
System (VAPHS); and actively participate in the education of fellows, residents, and students.
Minimum objective qualifications; other desirable qualifications:
The Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking candidates for
a clinical position with the Veterans Affairs to meet our department's current strategic needs.
This academic appointment will be in an appointment stream, commensurate with the applicant's
background, academic productivity, and leadership skills. Candidates at the Assistant Professor
level should have a demonstrated track record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and
should be board certified in Critical Care Medicine, and have obtained an M.D or D.O. degree.
About the Department:
The Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is one of the only standalone
academic departments focusing on critical care medicine in the United States. Along with its
clinical partner UPMC, department faculty provide clinical services to critically ill adult and pediatric
patients across the 30+ hospital UPMC health system, in addition to VAPHS. The Department's
research activities span bench-to-bedside-to-population health, supported by over $20 million in
NIH funding and two T32 training grants.
Rank and/or title; salary range or minimum:
Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, non-tenure is anticipated. Salary will be
