Compensation Analyst Senior

GENERAL SUMMARY
-
The Compensation Analyst Senior will lead the day-to-day administration and the maintenance of compensation programs and systems to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and compensation strategy. The Compensation Analyst Senior is responsible for and leads a variety of functions, including salary review, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, job description management, salary survey participation, job evaluations and analysis, job classification and pay grade maintenance and other related duties. Reports to Director of Total Rewards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Leads and provides expertise related to the compensation program including benchmarking, job classifications, employee pay and internal equity, etc.

Acts as subject matter expert to interpret compensation policies and resolve complex or escalated compensation questions.

Takes a lead role in performing job analysis, evaluations, and benchmarking to determine and make recommendations for appropriate classifications and pay grade placements. Provides summary reporting to assess market competitiveness.

Provides expertise on compensation policies and practices and makes recommendations for improvements while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.

Leads compensation studies, including market analysis, internal equity reviews, job valuation, and classification assessments to drive competitive pay strategies.

Leads designated salary surveys participation, receives and analyzes results, under the direction of departmental leadership.

Provides expertise and makes recommendations regarding compensation salary placement review requests on offers, transfers, promotions, etc. efficiently and effectively.

Conducts audits to ensure compensation programs are accurately and consistently administered.

Leads cross-functional project teams that are related to compensation or related initiatives.

Coordinates the development of and maintenance of all position descriptions, through regular communications with business department leadership and other stakeholders to ensure descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.

Performs job audits by interviewing and surveying employees and business department leadership to gather, document and/or validate essential job duties and responsibilities, skills and requirements for each job.

Standardizes, maintains, and catalogs job descriptions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational and legal standards.

Maintains proper job classification and pay ranges, including the establishment of new positions in the HR system.

Works closely with and makes recommendations to the HRIS function to ensure information in all systems is consistent and accurate.

Guides and trains compensation analysts.

Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive compensation-related data and processes.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, HR, business or a related business field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
-
3-5 years of progressive experience in compensation program administration, job evaluation, or total rewards required.

Preferred Education and Experience
-
Corporate or healthcare industry experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
High level of professional knowledge in compensation theory and practice as well as job evaluation methodologies.
-
Strong knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to broad-based compensation and human resources.
-
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to compile, analyze, interpret and communicate data in recommending solutions to unique and complex compensation issues.

Excellent time and project management skills; ability to plan and adjust priorities.
-
Excellent proficiency and technical aptitude with the use of MS Office products, especially Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of employees and external audiences as well.

Excellent interpersonal and consultation skills necessary to obtain and exchange factual and technical data as well as to explain compensation concepts to a varied and complex organizational structure.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team and a collaboratively shared leadership environment.
