This Opportunity:

  • Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing multiple projects for a variety of clients

  • Managing SEH design and construction phase services on multiple projects

  • Maintaining close relationships with clients throughout development of projects and after completion

  • Maintaining an understanding of relevant regulatory programs, funding opportunities, design standards and procedures through active participation in continuing education programs and professional associations

  • Representing SEH with agencies at project and public meetings

  • Preparing project approaches, scopes and fees required to complete projects

  • Presenting proposals to clients, interview for projects, and select project teams

  • Determining major project design decisions in conjunction with client

  • Mentoring staff of engineering professionals

  • Review proposed site plans and preliminary plans for compliance with client standards and provide client staff comments in a timely manner

  • Attend and present at city council meetings as needed

  • Review and update capital improvement plans (CIP) annually with clients

  • Assist our funding team in pursuing funding for client projects

  • Answer potential developer questions on future sites within the city with respect to water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and street access

  • Assist with the State Aid process for state aid cities

  • Prepare special assessment rolls and attend/present at assessment hearings


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer

  • Strong experience in project management and building client relationships

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, MicroStation and proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications

  • Ability to travel to the Twin Cities area for client meetings and site visits as needed


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Minnesota

  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience would be preferred for this role

  • Previous experience serving as a design engineer or project manager for multiple city infrastructure projects

  • Previous project management, design and construction administration experience of Civil/Municipal projects including site improvements, streets, drainage and utilities

  • Experience in preparing project plans, specifications and bidding documents

  • Previous experience in project proposal preparation and client service management

  • Previous experience leading a staff of engineering professionals

  • Ability to coach and mentor junior level technical staff and Graduate Engineers

  • Knowledge of Minnesota Statute 429 Special Assessment Process.
