About This Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Women’s Health Site Director/Provider is a licensed independent practitioner who provides comprehensive outpatient obstetric and Women’s Health care and leads the daily clinical operations of the Women’s Health site. This position may be filled by a Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (CWHNP), Obstetrician, or Family Medicine Physician with demonstrated competency in outpatient obstetrics and Women’s Health. The Site Director/Provider delivers direct patient care, supports and mentors the Women’s Health care team, and serves as a clinical and operational liaison with organizational leadership to ensure high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered services in a fast-paced environment.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Providing health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, independent diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions related to Women’s Health and outpatient obstetrics.
  • Developing and managing medical plans of care for individuals, families, and groups, in collaboration with other Women’s Health providers as appropriate.
  • Providing healthcare services for which the provider is educationally prepared, licensed, and credentialed, and for which ongoing competency has been established and maintained.
  • Managing common health problems encountered in the Women’s Health clinic, including prenatal, postpartum, contraceptive, gynecologic, and primary care needs within scope of training and privileges.
  • Applying evidence-based practice, advanced clinical decision making, and leadership skills to support innovation in care delivery and achievement of quality, cost-effective patient outcomes.
  • Serving as a consultant and patient advocate for individuals, families, groups, and the community in matters related to Women’s Health and outpatient obstetrics.
  • Acting with oversight and authority on day-to-day site operations, including urgent or emergent situations impacting care delivery (e.g., staffing challenges, patient complaints, scheduling issues), reaching out to relevant leadership in the moment when needed and debriefing leadership for situational awareness and system improvements.
  • Enhancing collaboration among providers, MAs, RNs, Lab, Dental, Behavioral Health, Pharmacy, and Operations.
  • Serving as a liaison and connector between professions at the Women’s Health site.
  • Providing real-time support and guidance to providers and clinical staff in navigating current clinical policies, procedures, and workflows, including reinforcement of quality initiatives and EHR best practices.
  • Functioning as peer clinical support (not line management) for providers; escalating persistent performance concerns to appropriate leadership without direct involvement in disciplinary actions.
  • Responding to incident reports arising at the site, assisting with data gathering and root cause analysis, and communicating with impacted parties to support closure and implementation of improved processes.
  • Collaborating in developing, revising, and implementing clinical policies, procedures, and workflows that support providers and clinical staff in Women’s Health.
  • Identifying gaps in training for providers and clinical staff and communicating these needs to appropriate leadership; participating in developing and delivering education and training in collaboration with leadership.
  • Collaborating with the Vaccine Manager and clinical staff to ensure a safe and standardized approach to vaccination within the Women’s Health program.
  • Providing situational awareness and support to on-site Laboratory, Pharmacy, Behavioral Health, Dentistry, and Operations related to Women’s Health services.
  • Monitoring medical supplies and equipment at the site and escalating identified needs to the appropriate leadership.
  • Participating in regular meetings with leadership for support, situational awareness, and alignment on clinical and operational priorities.
  • Serving as liaison between Women’s Health providers (including contracted providers) and internal leadership and staff to support communication, problem solving, and implementation of new or expanded services.
  • Participating in quality improvement activities with an emphasis on ensuring Women’s Health provider input in QI initiatives and communication with the Quality team regarding incentives and performance measures.
  • Reviewing schedule templates and encounter volumes for Women’s Health providers, working with the CMO and other leaders to optimize productivity, access, and quality.
  • Serving as liaison between Women’s Health providers and the Senior Director of Nursing (or designee) to collaborate on staffing needs and clinic workflow.
  • Serving as a liaison between advanced practice providers and the CMO to ensure timely feedback on clinical and workflow issues and to support implementation of new services.
  • Coordinating with the Practice Operations Coordinator (or designee) to schedule learners (e.g., APRN students, residents, or other learners as applicable) for clinical rotations in the Women’s Health clinic.

  • Carrying out all job responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • For all candidates (CWHNP, Obstetrician, or Family Medicine Physician):
    • Current, unrestricted license in Kansas and/or Missouri (as applicable to practice location) in the relevant discipline (APRN, MD, or DO).
    • Current DEA registration as required for scope of practice.
    • Current BLS certification.
    • Demonstrated competency in outpatient obstetrics and comprehensive Women’s Health care.
    • Experience working effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
    • Experience providing or supporting clinical supervision and mentorship of other clinicians or learners.
  • Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (CWHNP) Requirements:
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
    • Active APRN license and RN license as required by state(s) of practice.
    • National certification in Women’s Health or related specialty by an appropriate certifying body, or actively pursuing certification with completion within one year of hire.
  • Obstetrician Requirements:
    • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Completion of an accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
    • Board certification or board eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology in accordance with organizational requirements.
  • Family Medicine Physician Requirements:
    • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency.
    • Demonstrated training and experience in outpatient obstetrics and women’s health, with privileging consistent with organizational requirements.
    • Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine in accordance with organizational requirements.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or formal leadership experience in a clinical setting.
  • Prior experience in a community health center, FQHC, or comparable safety-net environment.
  • Experience with quality improvement, population health, or value-based care initiatives.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The Site Director provides direct supervisory or lead responsibilities for designated clinical staff and/or advanced practice providers as assigned, in collaboration with organizational leadership.
