Senior Claims Examiner

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Claims Examiner in the United States.

This role is part of a high-performing claims organization handling complex and high-severity General Liability cases, including New York Labor Law and catastrophic bodily injury claims. You will be responsible for managing a dedicated claim inventory from investigation through resolution, ensuring fair, timely, and accurate outcomes aligned with company best practices. The position requires strong technical claims expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to operate with a high degree of independence within defined authority limits. You will collaborate with internal leaders, legal partners, and external stakeholders to manage litigated and non-litigated claims effectively. This is a customer-focused role where communication, negotiation, and analytical thinking are essential. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, offering flexibility and opportunities to work across multiple U.S. locations or remotely.

Accountabilities

You will oversee the full lifecycle of assigned claims, ensuring appropriate coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, and resolution. This includes managing both litigated and non-litigated matters while maintaining compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Receive and review claims assignments, determining coverage applicability and investigative needs
  • Manage and evaluate complex General Liability claims, including NY Labor Law and bodily injury exposures
  • Conduct thorough investigations and ensure timely, accurate file documentation and reserving
  • Handle litigated claims, developing strategy and coordinating with legal counsel as needed
  • Assess recovery and subrogation opportunities and support pursuit of recoverable funds
  • Communicate with insureds, agents, and external stakeholders, ensuring high-quality customer service
  • Meet with clients to discuss claims handling capabilities and address specific case needs
  • Maintain compliance with company best practices, authority levels, and reporting requirements
Requirements

This position requires strong technical claims expertise in complex liability environments, along with the ability to manage high-exposure cases independently. You should be comfortable handling litigation, interpreting coverage, and making sound claims decisions under established guidelines.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience handling General Liability claims, including New York Labor Law and catastrophic bodily injury cases
  • Experience with coverage analysis and insurer-related disputes is strongly preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required state insurance licenses
  • Strong knowledge of claims investigation, evaluation, reserving, and litigation management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across all organizational levels
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard claims or case management systems
  • Ability to work independently while managing complex, high-volume claim inventories
