Staff Engineer - Data Engineering

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Engineer - Data Engineering in the United States.

This is a high-impact senior engineering role at the intersection of data architecture, platform integration, and AI innovation. You will act as a technical leader across multiple data engineering teams, shaping scalable systems that unify data platforms and enable advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities. The role combines hands-on development with strategic influence, ensuring that architecture decisions support long-term growth and cross-product alignment. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and ML teams to translate complex business needs into robust data solutions. With a strong focus on modern data infrastructure and AI-driven features, you will help define the roadmap for next-generation data products. This is an opportunity to drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and influence the evolution of a large-scale data ecosystem in a collaborative, remote-first environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Design and lead the evolution of scalable, cross-platform data architecture, establishing standards and best practices across multiple engineering teams.
  • Drive integration strategies that unify data systems and enable new cross-product capabilities, insights, and features.
  • Lead the development of AI and backend infrastructure, including data pipelines, model-ready datasets, and deployment frameworks for machine learning and LLM-powered features.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize large-scale data pipelines (batch and streaming) to support analytics and operational use cases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into efficient, scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentor and support data engineers, identifying skill gaps and elevating overall team capabilities through leadership and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate and prototype emerging technologies, particularly in AI and data infrastructure, to drive innovation and improve system performance.
  • Contribute to engineering planning, roadmap prioritization, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and performance.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields within complex, large-scale environments.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing distributed data systems across multiple products or business units.
  • Strong expertise in cloud data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or equivalent platforms.
  • Hands-on experience building scalable data pipelines using tools like Kafka, Spark, Airflow, or similar technologies.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into data systems, including working with large language models or advanced analytics pipelines.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and deep understanding of modern data architecture principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and driving technical best practices across teams.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes is a plus.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation ranging from $220,000 to $240,000 USD.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching contributions.
  • Generous paid parental leave (up to 18 weeks for birthing parents, 12 weeks for non-birthing parents).
  • Flexible work hours and fully remote work environment.
  • Unlimited paid time off, plus holidays and end-of-year company closure.
  • Stipends for phone, internet, wellness, learning, and coworking expenses.
  • Annual company-wide in-person event and team gatherings.
  • Inclusive, collaborative culture focused on growth, innovation, and work-life balance.
