In this role, you will help shape visually rich, educational experiences that bring learning to life for millions of students and educators. You will translate complex curriculum content into engaging print and digital design systems, combining strong artistic direction with clarity, accessibility, and storytelling. Working within a highly collaborative creative team, you will partner with designers, product managers, curriculum experts, and developers to deliver high-quality instructional materials across multiple formats. This position requires both conceptual thinking and hands-on execution, with an emphasis on visual consistency and craft excellence. You will also guide and mentor production artists while contributing directly to design work in a fast-paced, iterative environment. The role is ideal for a designer who thrives at the intersection of education, creativity, and system-driven design.
- Lead the concepting, design, and execution of educational materials across print, digital, and interactive formats.
- Design visual systems and assets that support teacher, student, and administrator learning experiences.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, content, UX, engineering, and curriculum specialists.
- Translate curriculum and instructional needs into engaging visual storytelling and design solutions.
- Direct and review the work of artists and production designers, providing clear feedback and ensuring quality standards.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Participate in design critiques, articulating creative decisions and incorporating feedback into iterations.
- Contribute hands-on design work when needed to support delivery and execution.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in art direction, visual design, or related creative roles.
- 1–2 years of experience managing or mentoring designers or production teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in print and digital design systems.
- Advanced skills in typography, layout, composition, color theory, and iconography.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and familiarity with collaborative design tools.
- Ability to develop concepts from sketching through final execution.
- Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines in agile environments.
- Comfortable working across multiple design mediums and adapting to shifting priorities.
- Experience in education technology or UX design is a plus, along with interest in learning and literacy-focused work.
