Job Overview:

The Physician Services Epic Charge Capture Specialist serves as the strategic lead for Epic charge capture and documentation workflows within Physician Services. This role focuses on error trending, revenue reconciliation, and data-driven analysis to identify workflow inefficiencies and training needs. By leveraging Epic system reporting and revenue data, the Specialist drives process improvement, standardization, and education initiatives to improve charge capture accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial performance across the physician enterprise.

Qualifications:

Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, or work equivalent experience required. 4+ years in revenue cycle, charge capture, or revenue integrity within an Epic environment required. Expert-level knowledge of Epic Professional Billing charge capture workflows, error resolution, and revenue reconciliation processes.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering training programs for diverse clinical and operational audiences.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred:

    Master’s Degree preferred Demonstrated experience in data analytics, revenue reconciliation, and workflow optimization strongly preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in reporting tools such as Epic Reporting Workbench or SlicerDicer preferred.
  • Epic Professional Billing certification strongly preferred.
  • CPC, CCS, or related coding certifications a plus.

Scheduling Requirements:

    Full-Time, Salaried position– 37.5 hours a week Remote – required to reside in NJ, NY, or PA.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of charge capture and documentation workflows using error trends, reconciliation reports, and revenue leakage data.
  • Identify systemic issues and high-impact error trends across Haiku/Canto mobile charge entry, manual charge corrections, and professional billing workflows.
  • Partner with Revenue Integrity, IT, and Finance to reconcile charges between clinical documentation, Epic charge entry, and downstream billing systems.
  • Recommend process changes or automation opportunities to eliminate recurring charge errors and improve data integrity.
  • Design and implement standardized charge capture workflows based on data-driven insights.
  • Lead initiatives to improve accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of documentation and charge entry.
  • Collaborate with operational and clinical stakeholders to integrate best practices into daily workflows and ensure alignment with compliance standards.
  • Develop and deliver targeted training programs for physicians, clinical staff, and operational teams on Epic documentation and charge capture best practices.
  • Create job aids, tip sheets, and real-time support tools focused on error prevention, revenue reconciliation processes, and charge accuracy.
  • Partner with leadership to establish a sustainable training model for ongoing education and process reinforcement.
  • Build relationships with registration, clinical operations, and IT teams to address upstream issues impacting charge capture accuracy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for revenue integrity initiatives, documentation compliance, and charge reconciliation processes.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to leadership based on analytics, workflow reviews, and training outcomes.
