Role:
To assist members with their mortgage lending needs. Analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on mortgage lending policy.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet Credit Union and regulatory standards. Approves or rejects loan applications, or requests additional information. Establishes terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews with member.
- Works as a cohesive team with loan processors and closers, collecting all documentation and information needed to process applications, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Evaluates acceptability of loan on secondary mortgage markets.
- Calls or visits members who are delinquent on their loan payment to bring loan current.
- Keeps informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending.
- Creates positive, lasting relationships with members and build a referral network of both members and realtors.
- Cross-sells other Credit Union services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
1.
Ensure all loan decisions are made within the established time frame and in compliance with lending policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and have minimal errors.
2.
Maintain delinquency and charge off rates consistent with Credit Union policies.
3.
Meet or exceed the established real estate loan goals for both the branch and the credit union each month.
4.
Develop and maintain knowledge of all mortgage policies and regulations within the Credit Union and from the mortgage industry.
5.
Provide informed, prompt, and accurate service and support to all members, realtors, and any other associates by accurately relaying loan decisions and information.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
One year to three years of similar or related experience.
Education
(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills
Must have good communication skills; 10-key calculator and keyboard skills required.

AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
