General Description:We are seeking an experienced R&D Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and upgrading test apparatus (rigs/lanes/cells), reducing and validating test data, tracking test severity, and ensuring that customer needs are met. As a key member of the Mechanical Lab, the role will require a hands-on approach to testing, problem-solving, and solution development, with a focus on improving testing efficiency and processes. You will represent the company at industry meetings and help lead efforts to find technically sound solutions that protect the company's interests.Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop tests to generate performance data that meet internal and external customer program objectives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company technology, customer needs, market trends, and industry direction.
  • Maintain safe work practices and adhere to all safety regulations.
  • Comply with all ISO and quality system requirements, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Maintain productive relationships with team members and both internal and external customers.
  • Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations as needed to both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a testing environment, preferably within automotive, fuels, emissions, or lubricant testing.
  • Experience with the design, construction, and commissioning of test cells, rigs, or other research tools is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicles, engines, transmissions, and associated electronics.
  • Solid understanding of PID control.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of SI and CI engines, fuel management systems, electronic engine control, CAN communication, and basic instrumentation and test cell hardware.
  • Strong project management skills (MS Project) and the ability to run projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional team environments.
  • Strong presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Customer service-oriented with a proactive approach to assignments.
  • Able to handle multiple work interruptions while maintaining focus on detail.
  • Proficiency in routine computer applications.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics is desirable.
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, from technicians to executives.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 20%).
