PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
As a VDC MEP Detailer III, you play a critical role in bringing complex construction projects to life through precise, coordinated 3D modeling of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. You’ll lead by example—mentoring others, ensuring models are clash-free and constructible, and collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology, teamwork, and real-world construction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead & Mentor: Guide and support less-experienced VDC Detailers, fostering a collaborative and professional team environment. Share expertise, provide on-the-job training, and help elevate team performance.
- Project Coordination: Participate in project meetings, review scope and requirements, and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to keep timelines and workflows on track.
- Quality Control: Partner with QC teams to ensure all models and drawings are accurate, clash-free, constructible, and aligned with company standards.
- Model Management: Develop and manage project-specific Revit models, maintaining consistent standards, schedules, views, and parameters for lean, accurate documentation.
- Software Expertise: Use and support tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Fabrication CADmep, BIM 360, Revizto, Stratus, and Navisworks—troubleshooting issues and maintaining workflow integrity.
- Advanced Revit & Navisworks Use: Apply advanced Revit features (family editing, parameters, fabrication parts) and Navisworks tools (clash detection, search sets, reports).
- Utility & System Design: Interpret P&IDs and detail MEP systems in line with industry standards to support efficient fabrication and installation.
- Fabrication & Installation Knowledge: Apply shop fabrication and field installation practices, including offsite manufacturing (OSM) methods. Support PVF Matrix development and project databases.
- Code & Contract Awareness: Ensure deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards (IBC, UFC, CBC, SMACNA, NFPA, etc.).
- Installation & Spool Drawings: Produce plan, section, and 3D views in Revit that meet ISAT standards and support construction teams in the field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in VDC/BIM detailing for MEP systems in a construction or fabrication environment
- Strong proficiency in Revit and Navisworks, with hands-on experience in clash detection and fabrication workflows
- Working knowledge of P&IDs, MEP systems, and utility design standards
- Understanding of shop fabrication and field installation processes
