This role is responsible for overseeing revenue accounting operations, ensuring accurate recognition, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient close processes. You will analyze complex contracts, manage deferred revenue and reserves, and provide insights to executives and auditors. The position involves collaborating with sales, legal, pricing, and finance teams to identify risks, optimize processes, and support system enhancements or automation initiatives. You will take ownership of complex accounting issues, applying technical expertise to prevent errors and streamline operations. This role offers a dynamic environment where attention to detail, creative problem solving, and proactive process improvements directly impact financial reporting and operational excellence.
Accountabilities:
  • Manage monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue transaction reviews.
  • Lead technical analyses, such as SSP studies, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to business partners and leadership.
  • Research and operationalize complex, non-routine revenue transactions, new GTM strategies, and multi-obligation arrangements.
  • Maintain and update technical accounting policies and memos, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant standards.
  • Support revenue and accounting automation initiatives, system logic enhancements, and new system implementations.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams including sales, legal, pricing, and finance to proactively address accounting risks.
  • Coordinate project priorities within the revenue accounting team and ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
  • Work closely with external auditors, preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual support packages.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 46 years of accounting experience, including 35 years in public accounting at a Big 4 or large regional firm preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of technical revenue accounting standards, including ASC 606, multi-obligation arrangements, and complex contract terms.
  • Expertise with accounting systems, including NetSuite and Salesforce, and strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, multi-dataset analysis, complex formulas).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead revenue close processes and mentor team members in technical and operational aspects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with an aptitude for creative solutions to complex accounting issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting findings, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing training or guidance.
  • Experience with software/SaaS revenue accounting, commission capitalization, and technical accounting system logic setup.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
